How To Make The Best Use Of Your College Days

Here are some of the key inputs that can be of some help in effectively utilizing college days:
1. Read, Read, Read a lot. Keep reading. Attend webinars and courses through websites such as meetup.com, udemy.com , coursera, etc. and enhance your skills.
2. Create a website or blog on your own and update it periodically with your strong skills and technical learnings. Some of the best options are to create a blog either on Medium.com, Substack.com, Vocal.com, etc. Post atleast one post per week on any topic of interest such as college happenings, book that you read, people that you met, TedX talk that you liked etc.

3. Follow the great leaders who have achieved great stuff and decode their activities and follow their playbook, listen to their videos.

Please listen to the seven pillars of responsibility by Swami Sarvapriyananda,
Video link: https://youtu.be/A7_8_XuEI6k?si=HU8a5pVc6v9OgwtU

Below is the summary of the video,
-> Achieving my desires is my responsibility - you need to set goals in a quantified way and achieve your desires, don’t expect anyone else to help to achieve what you want.
-> Quality of my work is my responsibility - Always strive for perfection and excellence in whatever you do. This will redefine your identity.
-> Quality of my communication is my responsibility - Always be succinct and precise in communication. Communication is getting from Point A to Point B and disseminating the message clearly to the listener. Be truthful, clear, kind, and forceful.
-> Quality of my behaviour is my responsibility - Be honest, fair and courageous. Respect others.
-> My time is my responsibility - Manage your time effectively by time boxing your activities, do not procrastinate and prioritize what’s important.
-> My values are my responsibility - Ensure to adhere to some of the core values such as Integrity, Honesty, Fairness, Punctuality, Sincerity and keep reaffirming them.
-> My happiness is my responsibility - Ensure to take care of your physical and mental health, your hobbies and your goals.

4. Network a lot. Create a strong LinkedIn profile, keep in touch with industry experts, and obtain industry exposure.
5. Volunteer - Donate at least one percent of your time for volunteering, which is eight hours per month.
6. Dream Big — Always dream big, never settle for less. Instead of choosing the regular route such as a MNC based engineering, medicine or chartered accountancy job, aim for embracing the uncertainty and something unexplored such building a start-up, giving ted talks etc
7. Write professional emails. Writing With Flair By Shani Raja - available on Udemy, is a excellent course on writing.
8. Learning alone will not help. Applying the learnings is important. Learn coding by coding for atleast hundred programs on a topic. Learn content writing by coming up with atleast one post consistently for a week etc.
9. Get an internship.

10. Immerse yourself in everything that you do — set your eyes on something and become obsessed in achieving it. As suggested by legendary M.S. Dhoni, believe in the process or the journey, rather than on the results or destination. Set micro goals and work on getting to the destination. Step by step. Brick by brick.
